The 1974/75 season was the 31st and final season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish ice hockey division . Leksands IF became champions for the fourth time in the club's history . For the 1975/76 season , Division 1 was replaced by the professional league Elitserien as the highest Swedish league.

Since the founding of the Elitserien in 1975 was already certain, the 16 teams of Division 1 contested a common main round to qualify for the new league. The eight best-placed teams qualified directly for the new Elitserien, with the four best-placed teams also qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played off. The teams in the main round in places 9 and 10 had to compete in the relegation, the so-called Kvalserien , while the remaining six teams were relegated to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
