The 1960/61 season was the 17th season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish ice hockey league . Master was for the eighth time in the club history Djurgårdens IF . Hammarby IF , Alfredshems IK , GAIS Göteborg and Grums IK relegated to the second division.

mode

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups (North and South). Each of the eight teams per group played a total of 14 games. The first two in each group qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The last two in each group were relegated directly to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
