The 1986/87 Elitserien season was the twelfth season of the Swedish Elitserien . Swedish champion was the first time in the history of the IF Björklöven .
Regular season
mode
The ten teams of the Elitserien initially played against each other in 36 season games. While the first four teams qualified for the play-offs, the last placed in the Kvalserien had to compete against the best second division teams in order to stay up. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
