The 1945/46 season was the second season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish ice hockey league . Champion Hammarby IF . Atlas Diesels IF , Tranebergs IF , Västerås SK and Södertälje IF relegated to the second division.

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups (North and South). Each of the six teams per group played a total of ten games. The two group winners met in the championship final. The last two in each group were relegated directly to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
