The Enterprise (original title: The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek , later known as Star Trek: The Animated Series ) is an American science fiction television series, which is an animated sequel to the series Spaceship Enterprise and like this in the Star -Trek -Universe Plays. After the first Star Trek -Kinofilm the series was not as for Star Trek - canon explains belonging, so they are not the official over part of Star Trek -Universums was. The series takes place directly after the original series in the years 2269 and 2270. Although the USS Enterprise is theoretically identical to the spaceship from the original series, it already contains a holodeck like the spaceships in later series. There were also some new pieces of equipment such as oxygen belts instead of spacesuits. These innovations did not appear in the films that follow this series.
Production and publication
The series was produced by Filmation and consists of 22 almost 25-minute episodes that were first broadcast in the USA in two seasons from 1973 to 1974. In the original, the characters were spoken by the actors in the real film series, with the exception of Pavel Chekov ( Walter Koenig ), who was replaced by Lieutenant Arex, a member of a three-legged and three-armed species. Walter Koenig worked as a screenwriter on the sixth episode. Directed by Bill Reed and Hal Sutherland . Another new addition is Lieutenant M'Ress, who takes on the position of communications officer in some episodes of the series and represents Uhura. M'Ress is a member of the Caitian people, an anthropomorphic, feline species.

The first dubbed version was created in 1976 by ZDF on behalf of Deutsche Synchron in Berlin. Michael Miller wrote the dialogue books , while Karlheinz Brunnemann directed the dialogue . The series was adapted by the broadcaster for what was then children's television. Four episodes have been left out and the other episodes have been shortened and partially cut. In addition, the dialogues were roughly changed and edited in the style of Schnodderdeutsch synchronization.
In 1994 the series was completely re-synchronized for video evaluation. For the second dubbed version, Kurt E. Ludwig wrote the dialogue books largely true to the original and also directed the dialogue. In contrast to the shortened ZDF version, almost all voice actors who were heard in the original series and the Sat1 synchronization were hired. The German video title was Star Trek - The Adventure of the Spaceship Enterprise .
In the meantime, only the second synchronized version is often used. The series has also been translated into French, Russian and Turkish.

German broadcasts
The German first broadcast of the animated series took place in a shortened form and with different speakers than in the real series from spring to autumn 1976 at 6:35 p.m. on ZDF. The series was then repeated in the following German programs:
- ProSieben : 1992 and summer 1994
- Kabelkanal / Kabel 1 : January 1995 – December 1997 (as part of Bim Bam Bino ), first on weekdays at 3:30 p.m., from summer 1995 on Saturdays and Sundays at noon and finally from autumn 1997 only on Saturdays at noon
- Premiere : July 2000 – May 2002
- K-Toon : February 2001 – February 2003
- Junior : April 2001 – December 2005

The version, which was reconstructed and dubbed for the video release with the main speakers from the real series in the 1990s, ran for the first time on German television from 2016 to 2017 on Tele 5.

Novel versions
The US publisher Ballantine Books published the retelling of all 22 episodes in ten volumes. The first six volumes contain the retelling of three episodes each, the other four volumes of one episode each. They were first published in German by Goldmann Verlag and later by Loewe Verlag . All retellings were written by Alan Dean Foster .
