Stefan Brandtmayr (born February 26, 1959 in Wels , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian designer and set designer .

Life

Stefan Brandtmayr graduated from the technical college for mechanical, automotive and engine construction in Steyr . He then studied metal sculpture at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz and graduated in 1984 with Helmuth Gsöllpointner . Brandtmayr has been working as a set designer since 1987. He received his first successes for setting the stage for Peter Turrinis Rozznjagd at the Phönix Theater in Linz and Zurich . He works as an exhibition designer: z. B. Museum of Encounters in Schmiding and for the Steyr Work World Museum . In 1996 he founded the sit designbureau for interior and graphic design together with Doris Kropfreiter. From 1989 to 2009 he developed the product design for the Austrian office furniture manufacturer HALI.

Brandtmayr has worked as a set designer for drama and opera since 2001 . In this activity there is a regular collaboration with the directors Georg Schmiedleitner , Ingo Putz and Alejandro Quintana, the director Petra Luisa Meyer and the costume designer Cornelia Kraske . Opera productions with Rainer Mennicken in the Musiktheater Linz . Brandtmayr designs stages for the Phönix Theater, the Landestheater Linz and the Musiktheater Linz; State Theater Nuremberg , Oldenburg State Theater , Schauspielhaus Bochum , German National Theater Weimar , Volkstheater Vienna , United Theaters Bozen .

Stefan Brandtmayr has a teaching position for stage design at the Art University Linz. He lives and works in Linz.
