The sixth season of the television series The West Wing first aired between October 2004 and April 2005. In Germany and Austria, the first broadcast started in December 2010 on the pay TV channel FOX .
action
First, the season deals with the peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine. On the final evening at Camp David, President Bartlet fired his Chief of Staff, Leo McGarry, following a disagreement, and had a heart attack. He appoints press officer CJ Cregg as his successor. The positions of other staff members also change. While Charlie Young, previously Personal Assistant to the President, is appointed Deputy Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff, some employees are leaving the White House. Josh Lyman can convince the Democratic MP Matt Santos to run for president. Will Bailey and Donna Moss meanwhile work for Vice President and Presidential Candidate Bob Russell. In the Republican primaries, it is becoming apparent early on that Senator Arnold Vinick will be running as the Republican candidate. With the Democrats, the process is far more difficult. Only at the party congress can Santos, initially acted as an outsider, prevail against his competitors and secure the nomination of the divided Democratic Party. At the same time, it is announced that Leo McGarry is running as his vice-presidential candidate.
