history

The beginnings

Urma Sellinger was founded in 2010 by Eric Lindqvist ( guitar ), John Eriksson ( drums ), Alex Borg ( vocals ), Andree Borg (guitar), Axel Vålvik ( bass guitar ) and Olle Johansson (vocals) as In Flames- inspired death metal –Band in Stockholm. By performing with Adept , the musicians began to be interested in the post-hardcore genre and to write their own songs.

After just a few months, the band managed to get in touch with British music producer Matt Hyde , who had already worked for Slipknot , Bullet for My Valentine , Funeral for a Friend , Gallows and Architects . Contact with producer Matt Hyde was sporadic. The band asked him in an email if he was interested in working with the band. Hyde answered in the affirmative. In an interview by Västerviks Tidningen with the singer Olle Johansson, the latter stated that Hyde recognized the potential of the group and therefore wanted to work with the band. In the summer the band flew to London , where the group produced their debut EP Live Laugh Love . The 3-track EP was released on CD and as a download on iTunes and Spotify via the Swedish indie label Lunatic Music, which was founded in 2009 . The group is not under contract with this label, but the group was able to use the label's recording studios due to their relationships with the operators of the label. A week after the EP was released, the band reached number one for the most heard songs on MySpace in Sweden. Due to the unexpected success, the group was chosen at People's Choice for the Moshpit Open Air , where the band played together with Enter Shikari and other bands in Folkets Park , Nykvarn , Stockholm on September 4th, 2010 .

With the song Far from Sandra from the debut EP, the group took part in a competition organized by Check In Music , in which the winning band won a record deal with Universal Music Sweden . The Swedish solo musician Dennis Camitz won this contest with his song Funeral . On May 2, 2010 the group played a concert at the Emergenza , an international band contest, at Klubben in Stockholm. At the Emergenza, the band reached the national finals and finished in fourth place.

The debut album

In February 2011, Urma Sellinger announced that they wanted to work with Matt Hyde again. Together with Hyde, the group rented the Lunatic Music studio again in the Swedish town of Gävle , where the band produced their album. Hyde and the band were supported by Emil Englin, Kristoffer Löfgren, Per Hartwig and Johan Nygren in the production of the album. In addition, some work on the album was done at Bro Studios in London. In June 2011 the band played at Monsterstage , a festival that has been held since 2007. The five-day event featured more than 100 groups and musicians of all genres from all over Sweden.

On April 16, 2011 Urma Sellinger was the opening act for All Ends in Västerås . On August 5th, 2011 Urma Sellinger played with Embrace Elijah and Hollows in Jönköping. The group released a song from the new album, Plastic Smile, in advance on MySpace and Facebook .

In 2011 the band separated from their bassist Axel Vålvik, who was replaced by Eric Lindqvist's brother Anton Lindqvist. At the end of 2011 Urma Sellinger performed at the Pepp Fest in the Haninge Kulturhus in Stockholm. In December 2011, the first single from the debut album was released as a download on Amazon, iTunes and Spotify. This was pre-broadcast on Bandit Rock in November 2011 . Some of the group's songs have already been broadcast on Australia-based Internet radio The Pit FM . The band announced in December 2011 that the debut album was expected to be released on January 26, 2012.

This tour is organized by The Kirby Organization (TKOK) and Oakfield Music Group , which was still called Madison Music Group until the beginning of October. On January 1, 2013, the organizers announced the first concert dates of the European tour, which will be called the “Shout Out Loud” tour. These are in Asker and Arendal (both Norway), Stockholm , Linköping and Gothenburg (all Sweden ), Munich and Dresden (both Germany ), Brno ( Czech Republic ), and Innsbruck ( Austria ). Concerts are also planned in the Netherlands , Belgium , Denmark and the United Kingdom . On January 9th, the group announced that they had split up with their singer Alex Borg. The decisive factor is a long-lasting illness, which also affected the singer's voice. He will be replaced by the previous guitarist Eric Lindqvist. The group plans to fill the post of lead guitarist with a guest musician during the European tour. On February 26, 2013, Shadows Chasing Ghosts announced on Facebook that the concerts on the mainland had to be canceled because the group's van could not be repaired. style

The band plays classic post-hardcore, in which elements of metalcore and alternative rock can also be found. The bands that influence Urma Sellinger's musical style include Slipknot and Bullet for My Valentine . Musically, however, the sound is more reminiscent of Silverstein .

In terms of content, the lyrics are about personal experiences and feelings of the musicians as well as the experiences of friends of the band members. In some texts the musicians tell how they perceive the world and their environment. The band sees their lyrics as apolitical. Furthermore, some texts take up topics such as hate and love on a personal basis of the musicians.
