Awarding of the Nestroy Theater Prize 2020

The Nestroy Awards 2020 is the 21st award of the Nestroy Theater Prize and took place on October 4, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the award was not made as a live gala, but was broadcast as a pre-recorded TV broadcast on ORF III .

The award ceremony was moderated by Stefanie Reinsperger , Philipp Hochmair and Peter Fässlacher, while the Viennese Wurstelprater at night served as the setting . The evening was musically accompanied by musical actress Ana Milva Gomes and Florian Teichtmeister as well as Denise Jastraunig, Anna Carina Buchegger , Anneke Brunekreeft, Florian Fetterle , Gerben Grimmius and Lucius Wolter from the ensemble of the musical Cats and the orchestra of the United Stages Vienna under the direction of Herbert Pichler. The concept and book came from Florian Stanek .

The winners of the categories Best Play - Author's Award and Lifetime Achievement were announced in advance on September 15, 2020, together with the nominations. The chairman of the jury was Ulli Stepan for the first time.
