World Heritage in Cyprus

The world heritage in Cyprus (as of 2017) includes three UNESCO world heritage sites , all of which are world cultural heritage sites. The Republic of Cyprus acceded to the World Heritage Convention in 1975, the first World Heritage site was added to the World Heritage List in 1980. The last World Heritage site to date was registered in 1998.

World heritage sites

The following table lists the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cyprus in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion on the World Heritage List (K - cultural heritage, N - natural heritage, K / N - mixed, (R) - on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger ).

In 2001 the church Metamorfosis tou Sotiros (Agia Sotira, Lage ) in Palaichori was added. Another church is still on the tentative list as a possible extension (Ref. 1672 ), others have already been withdrawn (Ref. 1670 and 1671 ).

Chirokitia

1998 K 848 Chirokitia is an archaeological site of a settlement from the aceramic Neolithic age, which dates from the 7th to the 4th millennium BC. Was inhabited.

Current World Heritage candidates

Currently (2017) eleven sites are entered in the tentative list of Cyprus, the last entry was made in 2016. The following table lists the sites in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion in the tentative list.
