Wilhelm "Willi" Bergmeister (born September 25, 1949 - † July 9, 2013 in Langenfeld ) was a German racing driver and sponsor of Michael Schumacher .

Racing career

Willi Bergmeister started in an NSU TT in 1969 and became German Bergmeister in 1974 . From 1976 drove Bergmeister together with the Swiss Jörg Siegrist on a VW Scirocco , the European Touring Car Championship and came second here. In 1976 Willi Bergmeister won the VW Junior Cup in a VW Scirocco. In 1980 Bergmeister won the European Touring Car Championship together with Hans-Joachim Nowak.

Entrepreneur and Family

Bergmeister ran an NSU - or later an Audi branch. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher trained as a car mechanic here. In 2006 the company merged with the Schnitzler car dealership.

His sons Tim and Jörg Bergmeister are also racing drivers. The orange painted NSU TT was included in the model: Revell put a series of 2000 models in the scale of 1:32.
