(blue = champions / gray = transfer to the sports district of Thuringia)

The 1st class Halle-Merseburg 1941/42 was the ninth season of the second-class district class Halle-Merseburg , which has been serving as a substructure for the Gauliga Mitte (Gau VI) since 1933 . For the third time, the FV Sportfreunde Halle won the championship title at the district level. Promoted LSV Nordhausen delivered an extremely impressive season as runner-up. The Luftwaffe athletes left last year's runner-up from Mockrehna just behind and repeated his performance as a newcomer to the season last year. The three Merseburg clubs and SV Halle 98 finished fourth to seventh at the end of the season. The relegation battle, which turned out to be a mere sham battle after this season, was contested by promoted Sandersdorf, VfL Bitterfeld and Halle's Borussia. Because both the sports fans from Halle, due to the Gauliga ascent, and the LSV Nordhausen due to the transfer to the sports district of Thuringia , left the league. At the time of their close three-way battle, none of the participants was aware of this, so that there was an exciting component in tabular form until the final whistle of the game. In the subsequent round of promotion of the four participating district champions of the 2nd class , FC Wittenberg 07 and the military sports club MSV from Torgau conquered the two free places for the last first class of the district class football in the Saale-Elster-Burgenland Region , before the end of World War II .
