Celo & Abdi (often stylized as Celo & Abdi ), also Celo & Abdi 385 South , is a German rap - duo from Frankfurt .
Band history
Celo (real name Erol Huseinćehaj , born January 15, 1982 in Frankfurt am Main) is the son of Bosnian immigrants. After completing his technical diploma, he did various part-time jobs, including working in a call center where he met Abdi. In 2006 Celo ( Bosnian for bald head) began to write his own rap lyrics until he and Abdi began working on the album Mietwagentape in 2009 .
Abdi (civil Abderrahim el Ommali , born August 7, 1987 in Frankfurt am Main) is a son of Moroccan immigrants. In 2003 he began - inspired by American rappers like Eazy-E , Tupac Shakur or Mobb Deep - with writing his own rap lyrics, which he also performed at regional rap battles.
In 2008, the musicians got to know each other while working together as call center employees. In 2010 they published the Mixtape Mietwagentape , which was available for free on the Internet. This production was voted Juice Homegrown Tape of the Month and later Tape of the Year. The positive feedback led to nationwide awareness and a record deal with the label Azzlackz of Offenbach rapper Haftbefehl . In 2012 her first album Hinterhofjargon was released , which reached number 8 in the German album charts. At the end of June 2014 the second album Akupuncture followed , with which they entered the top 3 of the album charts. Her third album Bonchance was released on June 12, 2015 and reached number 8 in the German album charts.
In 2014, the two rappers made a guest appearance as a car dealer in the German comedy 3 Turks and a Baby .
Own label
The two rappers are the label Azzlackz rapper arrest warrant under contract. They also have their own label, which is called 385idéal . As a justification, they stated that one would like to play with clichés and make "one or the other bawdy saying about it", but that one is basically "more cosmopolitan and multicultural" in Frankfurt than in Berlin, for example.
style
Characteristic are descriptions from the Frankfurt or European criminal milieu, for example drug deals or production processes for the manufacture of drugs are described.
