Office Heldburg
The office Heldburg was a territorial administrative unit of the county of Henneberg .
Geographical location
The area of the Heldburg district historically belongs to the Henneberger Land or the Coburg care area and was located in today's Heldburger Land and Grabfeld .
The former Heldburg office is now largely in the south of the Free State of Thuringia and is in the Hildburghausen district . Other places are now in the districts of Haßberge and Rhön-Grabfeld in the Free State of Bavaria .

For the first time Heldburg was mentioned in the document No. 507 of the Codex Eberhardi issued on October 17, 837.
County of Henneberg
The Heldburg office was created in the county of Henneberg. In 1353/1354 some places fell to the Würzburg monastery. Today these are mostly in Lower Franconia .
Ernestine duchies
From 1353, the office of Heldburg briefly belonged to the Burgraves of Nuremberg and in 1374 fell to the Margraviate of Meißen , where it became an integral part of the Coburg care . From 1572 the Heldburg office belonged to Saxe-Coburg , from 1672 to Saxe-Gotha , from 1680 to Saxe-Hildburghausen and from 1826 to Saxe-Meiningen .
