Archie Mason Griffin (born August 21, 1954 in Columbus , Ohio ) is a retired American football player .

He is the only player to have won the Heisman Trophy for best college football player twice (1974 and 1975). He completed his college career at Ohio State University . Between 1976 and 1982 he played as a running back for the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL . With the Bengals he took part in Super Bowl XVI , but lost there against the San Francisco 49ers led by Joe Montana with 21:26. After his time with the Bengals, he played briefly in the United States Football League with the Jacksonville Bulls .
