Doug Flutie
Douglas Richard "Doug" Flutie (born October 23, 1962 in Manchester , Maryland ) is an American former Canadian football and American football player on the position of quarterback .
Flutie played football for Boston College from 1980 to 1984 and gained national attention on November 23, 1984 with a 48-yard Hail Mary pass that was trapped by Gerard Phelan in the end zone and the Eagles at the last minute at 47:45 -Targeted victory against the Miami Hurricanes . In his senior year with the Eagles , Flutie was awarded the 1984 Heisman Trophy for best college player.
This was followed by times in the USFL and the NFL before Flutie moved to the CFL . There he won the Gray Cup three times (1992, 1996, 1997) and was elected CFL's Most Outstanding Player six times (1991-1994, 1996 and 1997) .
After returning to the NFL in 1998, Flutie played in the league until 2005.
