Edward Nathan "Eddie" George Jr. (* 24. September 1973 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played with the Houston Oilers (later Tennesse Titans) and the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL).

George played college football for Ohio State Buckeyes Football , where he set a new record for Ohio State University in his senior year (1995) with 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns . He caught 44 passes that year for an additional 399 yards and one more touchdown. Ohio State finished the season with a record of ten wins and two defeats and Eddie George won the Heisman Trophy with the previously scarcest result of all elections Tommie Frazier , the quarterback of the University of Nebraska .

NFL

Houston Oilers / Tennessee Titans

After the season, George was selected in the 1995 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers in the first round as the 14th player. In his first year he ran 1,368 yards, scored eight touchdowns and won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the season . For the Cowboys he only completed eight games as a starter before ending his active career after his only season for the Cowboys. For the Cowboys, he only ran 432 yards and four touchdowns.

In his NFL career, George ran for 10,441 yards, caught 268 passes for an additional 2,227 yards, and scored 78 touchdowns (68 runs and ten passes caught).

Honors

On May 16, 2011, Eddie George's induction into the College Football Hall of Fame was announced. His jersey number # 27 was withdrawn on September 15, 2019 in the game against the Indianapolis Colts during the halftime show and cannot be used by any other player.
