Glenn Davis ( Glenn Woodward Davis, called "Mr. Outside" ; born December 26, 1924 in Claremont , California , † March 9, 2005 in La Quinta , California) was an American football player .

He won the Heisman Trophy in 1946 and led the US Army team, whose backbone he called “Mr. Outside "together with Doc Blanchard (" Mr. Inside ") formed three championships. In the 1947 NFL Draft , the halfback was committed to second place in the first round by the Los Angeles Rams . Only after completing his military service could he begin his professional career in 1951. In 1952 it ended again due to a knee injury. He scored 11 touchdowns in his short career . He died at the age of 80 years to cancer .

Davis was married three times, including from 1951 to 1952 to actress Terry Moore .
