Audruicq ( Dutch : Ouderwijk ) is a French municipality with 5412 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . It has belonged to the Arrondissement of Calais (previously Saint-Omer ) and the canton of Marck since 2017 .
geography
Audruicq is located in French Flanders , the area is called Bredenarde and is bordered to the north and east by the Canal de Calais . Audruicq is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vieille-Église in the north, Saint-Omer-Capelle and Saint-Folquin in the northeast, Sainte-Marie-Kerque in the east, Policove in the southeast, Zutkerque in the south and southwest, Nortkerque in the west and Nouvelle-Église in the Northwest.
Audruicq train station is on the Lille-Calais railway line .
history
Baldwin II of Flanders granted the place city rights in 1175. The place became a French place in 1678 after the Peace of Nijmegen .
