Oye-Plage ( Flemish : Ooie ) is a commune with 5373 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . It has belonged to the Arrondissement of Calais (previously Saint-Omer ) and the canton of Marck since 2017. The inhabitants arecalled Ansériens .

The place was mentioned as Ogia (early Germanic probably island ) as early as the 8th century.
geography
Oye-Plage is the northernmost municipality in the Pas-de-Calais department. It is located on the North Sea . Neighboring communities are Grand-Fort-Philippe (ndl .: "Groot Filipsfort") in the east, Saint-Folquin (ndl .: "Sint Volkwin") and Saint-Omer-Capelle (ndl .: "Sint Omaarskapel") in the southeast, Nouvelle -Église (ndl .: "Hereweg") and Vieille-Église (ndl .: "Oudekerke") in the south, Offekerque (ndl .: "Hofkerke") in the southwest and Marck (ndl .: "Merk") in the west.
