Blăjel ( German  Kleinblasendorf , såksesch Klïn-Bluësendref , Hungarian Balázstelke ) is a municipality in the Sibiu district in Transylvania , Romania .

The place is located in a southern side valley of the Târnava Mică (Little Kokel) in the Kokeltal , about 3.5 kilometers as the crow flies east of Bazna (Baassen) and 5.5 kilometers northwest of Mediaș (Mediasch) .

history

Kleinblasendorf emerged as a subordinate community in the area of Kokelburg County , first mentioned in a document in 1339.

population

The municipality was and is densely populated with mostly Romanian inhabitants and parts of Hungarians, Roma and Transylvanian Saxons . After the revolution of 1989, most of the Transylvanian Saxons emigrated. The population has decreased significantly since 1977.
