Ludoș [ ˈludoʃ ] (outdated Ludoșul Mare or Luduș ; German Großlogdes , Hungarian Nagy-Logdes ) is a municipality in the Sibiu County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
The place is also known by the German names Ludesch and the Hungarian Ludas and Nagyludas .
Geographical location
The municipality of Ludoș is located in the southwest of the Transylvanian Basin on the upper reaches of the Secaș (Zekesch) , a tributary of the Sebeș (Mühlbach) . In the west of the Sibiu district on the county road (drum județean) DJ 106G, the place Ludoș is about ten kilometers northeast of the small town Miercurea Sibiului (Reuss market) ; the district capital Sibiu (Hermannstadt) is located about 45 kilometers southeast. The Romanian A1 motorway runs about eight kilometers south of Ludoș .
history
The place Ludoș was first mentioned in a document in 1142 or 1330, according to different sources. At the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy , the place belonged to the chair district of Szerdahely , the historic Sibiu County .

Since 1850 the highest number of inhabitants has been determined in the area of today's municipality and at the same time that of the Romanians and Romanian Germans in 1920, that of the Roma in 1850 and 1992, and that of the Magyars (20) in 1910. The majority of Romanian Germans lived in the incorporated village of Gusu (Gießhübel) , a former subordinate village in the region.
