Vurpăr ( German Burgberg , Hungarian Vurpód ) is a place in Sibiu County in Transylvania , Romania .
history
Vurpăr was originally a Transylvanian-Saxon village. According to the 1930 census, the settlement had 2,399 inhabitants, including 1,204 Romanians , 961 Germans , 218 Roma , nine Jews , six Hungarians, etc., according to denominations: 950 Lutheran, 779 Romanian Orthodox and 646 Greek Catholic Christians and nine Jews, eight Baptists, four Roman Catholics, and three Reformed.
Infrastructure
From 1910 to the 1990s, Vurpăr had its own train station. The station was the terminus of a branch line of the " Wusch ", a narrow-gauge railway . The line to Vurpăr branched off in Cornățel ( Harbachsdorf ) from the Sibiu - Agnita line .
Attractions
