Tilișca [ ˈtiliʃca ] ( German Telischen , Hungarian Tiliska ) is a municipality in the Sibiu County , in Transylvania , Romania .
The place is also known by the German names Tilisch or Tiltschen and the Hungarian Tilska .
Geographical location
The place Tilişca is located at the mouth of the mountain stream of the same name in the Negru , a left tributary of the Cibin , in the Mărginimea Sibiului , northeast of the Zibins Mountains ( Munții Cibin ).
On the district road ( drum județean ) DJ 106E, about four kilometers west of the small town of Sălişte , the place is about 25 kilometers west of the district capital Sibiu ( Hermannstadt ).
history
The place Tilişca was first mentioned in 1366. Located in the historic Hermannstädter Stuhl , Tilişca was assigned to the Selischte branch - today's small town of Sălişte . According to reports by M. Roska and G. Téglás , archaeological finds on Mount Lidi indicate that the region was settled in early history . According to K. Horedt , I Marțian and P. Király , discoveries of a medieval castle were made on the Cățânaş mountain, which is known by the locals .
The main occupation of the population is sheep breeding.
population
Since the admission in 1850, almost exclusively Romanians have been registered in the area of today's municipality . In 1850 there were 4,402 people, 105 of them Roma , which is also the largest population of both ethnic groups . Since then the number of the population has increased steadily, so that in the 1992 census 1,899 and 2002 1,662 people were registered. The highest number of Romanian Germans (6) was registered in 1850 and that of Magyars (3) in 1956 and 1992. Furthermore, a Serb was registered in 1930 . In 2011, 1,574 people were counted. 1,531 were Romanians, 16 Roma, the rest did not provide any information about their ethnicity.

- The wooden church Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavriil , built in 1782, is a listed building.
- A wayside cross, built in the 19th century, is a listed building.
- In the incorporated village of Rod , a wooden house from 1825 and two others, built in the 19th century, are listed as historical monuments.
