Clark County is a county in the state of Washington in the United States . 345,238 inhabitants live here. The county seat is Vancouver .

The county is located on the Columbia River and has an area of 1,700 km²; 72 square kilometers (4.27 percent) of it is water.
history
Clark County was formed in 1845. It was named after William Clark , an explorer who accompanied Meriwether Lewis on the Lewis and Clark Expedition .

According to the 2000 census , the county had a population of 345,238 people. There were 127,208 households and 90,953 families. The population density was 212 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 88.82% White, 1.68% African American, 0.84% Native American, 3.21% Asian, 0.37% Pacific Islander, and 1.99% other races Groups; 3.08% were from two or more races. 4.71% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 127,208 households, 37.20% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 56.80% were married couples living together, 10.30% were single mothers. 28.50% were not families. 21.80% were single households and 6.80% had someone living there who was 65 years of age or over. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.15.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 28.70% of residents under 18 years of age, 8.40% between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.80% between 25 and 44 years of age, 22.60% between 45 and 64 years of age 9.50% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 98.50 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 95.90 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 48,376 , and the median income for a family is $ 54,016. Males had a median income of $ 41,337 versus $ 28,537 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,448. 9.10% of the population and 6.90% of families are below the poverty line. 11.70% of them were under 18 years of age and 6.80% were 65 years of age or older.
