The place borders on the southwest of the city of Melun , which is on the other side of the Seine . The center of Paris is north-northwest and is 62 kilometers away. The Forêt de Fontainebleau extends south of the municipality .
history
Dammarie-les-Lys was first mentioned in the 13th century. The "Dammarie" in the place name is derived from a house of prayer, which was dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
