The Delaware Investments US Open 2012 took place October 6-12, 2012 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the World Series Gold category . The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the WSA Gold 60 category .

Defending champion Amr Shabana lost to Nick Matthew in five sets in the quarterfinals in the new edition of last year's final . In the final, Ramy Ashour , who already reached the final in 2009 , defeated his opponent Grégory Gaultier 11: 4, 11: 9 and 11: 9. Nicol David stayed victorious in the women, defeating Raneem El Weleily in the final with 14:12, 8:11, 11: 7 and 11: 7. Defending champion Laura Massaro failed in the semifinals to El Weleily in five sets.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. 16 players competed in the women's competition, eight of whom were also seeded. Of the remaining eight places, four were reserved for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Christopher Gordon and Kristen Long a starting place in the respective main field.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 115,000 for the men and $ 70,000 for the women.
