The Delaware Investments US Open 2014 took place October 10-18, 2014 at Drexel University in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , in the United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2014/15 and belonged to the World Series Gold category . The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2014/15 and belonged to the World Series Platinum category .

The defending champions were Grégory Gaultier for the men, who defeated Nick Matthew 3-0 last year , and Nicol David for the women, who defeated Laura Massaro in five sets. In the men's final, Mohamed Elshorbagy prevailed against Amr Shabana with 8:11, 11: 9, 11: 3 and 11: 3 . After the early retirement of Grégory Gaultier and Nick Matthews, Elshorbagy was already top of the world rankings on November 1, 2014. In the women's category, the top-seeded defending champion Nicol David prevailed against Nour El Sherbini with 11: 5, 12:10 and 12:10 .

The former world number five Kasey Brown announced in advance that she would end her career after the tournament. Even Gavin Jones ended after his off in the qualifying final of his career.

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions each consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Sabrina Sobhy and Christopher Gordon a starting place in the respective main field.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money for the men and women was 115,000 US dollars each.
