Delaware Investments US Open 2016

The Delaware Investments US Open 2016 took place October 8-15, 2016 at Drexel University in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , in the United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2016/17 and belonged to the PSA World Series category . The women's squash tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2016/17 and also belonged to the PSA World Series category .

The defending champions were Grégory Gaultier for men, who defeated Omar Mosaad 3-0 last year , and Laura Massaro for women, who defeated Nour El Tayeb in five sets. The men's tournament was won by Mohamed Elshorbagy , who benefited from Nick Matthew's injury-related task in the fifth set in the final . In the women's category , Camille Serme won the final against Nour El Sherbini in four sets.

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions each consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Sabrina Sobhy and Christopher Gordon a starting place in the respective main field.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money for the men and women was US $ 150,000 each.
