German TV Award / Best Camera
This article lists the nominations and winners of the German Television Award in the Best Camera category since its introduction in 1999. The winners will be determined in a secret vote by an independent jury.
History and records
The Best Camera category was awarded from 1999 to 2009. In 2010, the award sponsors ( ARD , ZDF , RTL and Sat.1 ) announced that they wanted to reform the awarding of awards. Among other things, it stipulated that the category for cameramen / women would no longer be awarded. Among other things, the awarding of the German Television Prize should shift more to television formats / productions. From 2010 to 2014 the category was not awarded. After a further reform in 2015/2016, the category Best Camera from 2016 will be awarded again.
Each year, one winner is determined from three nominations. The first winner was Martin Langer for ARDs and WDRs Die Bubi Scholz Story , who was awarded the 1999 German Television Prize. The last winner so far is Annette Hess for ZDF's Ku'damm 56 , which was honored at the German TV Prize 2017 .
