German TV Award / Best Music
This article lists the nominations and winners of the German Television Award in the Best Music category since its introduction in 1999. The winners will be determined in a secret vote by an independent jury.
History and records
The Best Music category was awarded from 1999 to 2009. In 2010, the award sponsors ( ARD , ZDF , RTL and Sat.1 ) announced that they wanted to reform the awarding of awards. Among other things, it stipulated that the category for composers would no longer be awarded. Among other things, the awarding of the German Television Prize should shift more to television formats / productions. From 2010 to 2014 the category was not awarded. After a further reform in 2015/2016, among other things, the category Best Music will be awarded again from 2016.
Each year, one winner is determined from three nominations. The first prize winner was Nikolaus Glowna for the crime film Auf der Jagd from the crime series Bella Block , which won the German Television Prize in 1999 . The last winners so far are Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer for Babylon Berlin , who were honored at the German Television Prize 2018 .
