Erwin l'Ami (born April 5, 1985 in Woerden ) is a Dutch chess master .

Life

Erwin l'Ami learned to play chess from his father when he was five. He is married to the Romanian Alina l'Ami (née Moţoc), who holds the title of International Master .

successes

l'Ami won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place in the Gausdal Classic tournament (2004), 2nd place in the Stepanakert B tournament (2005), 1st – 7th place. Place at the Open in Cappelle-la-Grande (2008) and 1st place at the Open Dutch Championship in Dieren (2009). In 2009 and 2010 he was a second in world championship matches for Wesselin Topalow . He later worked as a second for Anish Giri .

In 2003 l'Ami was named international champion , he reached the standards in July 2001 at the open Dutch championship in Dieren, in January 2003 at the Corus tournament in Wijk aan Zee and at the Dutch individual championship in 2003 in Leeuwarden . He has held the title of Grand Master since 2005 and fulfilled the required standards at two tournaments in Amsterdam in July 2004 and July 2005 and at the Gausdal Classics in September 2004.

National team

He played for the Dutch national team in 2006 , 2008 , 2010 and 2014 at the Chess Olympiad , the 2013 World Team Championship and the 2007, 2009 and 2013 European Team Championship.

In the Dutch Meester class he played for Utrecht in the 1999/2000 season , in the 2000/01 season and again in the 2019/20 season for Schaakstad Apeldorn , from 2003 to 2011 for the Hilversums Schaakgenootschap , with whom he played in 2008 , 2009 and 2010 and 2011 Dutch team champion, and from 2012 to 2019 for En Passant Bunschoten-Spakenburg , with whom he was champion in 2013 , 2014 and 2016 . In the German federal chess league, l'Ami played for Sportfreunde Katernberg from 2004 to 2008 , and since 2008/09 he has played for the Solingen chess company , with which he became German team champion in 2016 . In the Belgian Interclubs he played for SK Moretus Hoboken in the 2003/04 season , in the 2004/05 season for Boey Temse , in the 2005/06 season for Koninklijke Brugse Schaakkring and in the 2007/08 season for KSK Rochade Eupen- Kelmis .
