The game is played in a three-point system, i.e. each team receives three points for a win, two points for an overtime win and one point for a defeat after extra time. Each team played six games per season.
Each team plays six games during the tournament. As a rule, two games are played between two teams within two or three days in one country. All games are recorded in a table.
According to the IIHF world rankings , the twelve nations are divided into three pools. The first three teams formed pool A, the next three teams pool B, the next pool C and the last three teams pool D. The mode stipulated that one team from pool A played against the three teams from pool C and one team from pool C against the three teams from pool A. One team from pool B plays against the teams from pool D and vice versa.
