Euro Hockey Challenge 2019
The Euro Hockey Challenge 2019 was the eighth edition of the competition of the same name organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF . The competition started on April 10th and ended on May 4th. The games of the Euro Hockey Challenge served as preparation for the World Cup in Slovakia in 2019 for the national teams .
This year the tournament was played in a new mode for the first time: the twelve participating teams were divided into three divisions - center, north and continental - and played two games against each opponent within three weeks.
Attendees
The twelve best European teams in the IIHF world rankings that took part in the World Cup in Slovakia were eligible to participate.
For the 2019 event these were: Sweden , Russia , Finland , the Czech Republic , Switzerland , Germany , Norway , Slovakia , Latvia , Denmark , France and Austria .

mode
The game is played in a three-point system, i.e. each team receives three points for a win, two points for an overtime win and one point for a defeat after extra time.
During the tournament, each team plays a total of six games in their respective division. As a rule, two games are played between two teams within two or three days in one country.
