The European Darts Championship is the most highly endowed darts tournament in continental Europe and was held from September 20 to 23, 2012 in its fifth edition. The venue for the first time was the RWE sports hall in Mülheim an der Ruhr .

The title holder of the four years before was the English record world champion Phil Taylor , who lost this year to Brendan Dolan in the quarter-finals .

The new title holder was the Australian Simon Whitlock , who was able to prevail in the final with 11: 5 against Wes Newton .

The European Darts Championship 2012 was broadcast live on Sport1 on German television . The pay TV channel Sport1 + showed the match days live and in full.

Prize money

A total of £ 200,000 in prize money was distributed.

  • The first 16 players of the Order of Merit , of which the first 8 were seeded
  • The top 8 players in the Players Championships Order of Merit who were not already eligible to participate via the Order of Merit
  • The 8 first-placed players in the European Order of Merit who were not already qualified via one of the two aforementioned rankings
