FIFA Ballon d'Or
The FIFA Ballon d'Or (French for “Golden Ball”) was an award for the best football player of the year.
Between 2010 and 2015, the prize was awarded jointly by the world association FIFA and the French specialist magazine France Football as a summary of the awards FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or . In 2016, France Football and FIFA went back to the old mode and are awarding their awards separately.
The first men's title holder was Lionel Messi , who has been honored as a world footballer a total of four times. The Brazilian Marta was the first woman to receive the award. The last world footballer in 2015 was the American midfielder Carli Lloyd .
Gala
The gala of the same name was the continuation of the FIFA World Player Gala (from 1991 to 2009); the following awards were given:
- FIFA Ballon d'Or - World Player of the Year
- FIFA World Player of the Year
- FIFA Coach of the Year (Men and Women)
- FIFA Presidential Award
- FIFA Fair Play Award
- FIFA Puskás Prize
- FIFA FIFPro World XI
In 2013, the Brazilian football legend Pelé was awarded the FIFA Ballon d'Or Prix d'Honneur, the honorary award for his life's work.
After the end of the FIFA Ballon d'Or , FIFA launched The Best FIFA Football Awards gala , where it will present its prizes from January 2017.
Allocation mode
The amalgamation of the two prices is also reflected in the award mode. The votes come on the one hand from the coaches and captains of the national teams, as was the case with the FIFA world footballer , and from the media, as was done at the Ballon d'Or by France Football . Each of the jury participants awards five, three or one point to three players from a list jointly set by the France Football editorial team and FIFA. The performance of the players is to be recognized throughout the respective calendar year. Since the three groups of voters have different numbers of voters, but the votes of these three “electoral colleges” should each account for exactly one third of the total result, the absolute scores are then converted into percentages and published in this way.
List of award winners
- Green marking : Players marked in green were named UEFA Best Player in Europe inthe same year, an award that has been given to players active in Europe since 2011. The same award for women has only existed since 2013.
- Blue marking : Players marked blue were named CONCACAF Player of the Year inthe same year.
