action

Jon wants to propose marriage to his beloved Liz. But when she flies to England at short notice to give a lecture, Jon wants to travel behind. Garfield is to be stored in the shelter. Garfield, however, cannot accept being deported and hides in Jon's suitcase with Odie.

When Garfield arrives in London, a daring adventure begins. The Countess von Dargis has passed away and leaves her entire fortune to her tomcat Prince, who looks very similar to Garfield. The omitted Lord Dargis comes up with a diabolical plan to make Prince disappear unnoticed. He would then become the sole heir. After the Countess's former butler (now: land manager) notices that Prince has disappeared without a trace (or thrown into the river by Lord Dargis and reappeared in the London sewer system), he goes in search of him. Unsuspecting, he runs into Garfield, who is roaming around in London, and takes him to the castle, thinking it is the missing Prince.

From now on, Garfield can enjoy all the benefits of rich life. But the joy does not last long, because the other animals on the farm beg Garfield to help them and to protect them from the evil Dargis. He now has to choose between eating too much and justice. Meanwhile, Dargis forges new plans to get rid of Prince (or Garfield) for good. He has very different plans for the castle: He wants to turn it into a huge hotel complex.

But Garfield is now doing everything to protect his beloved "subjects". After the actual Prince is brought back by Jon, the "Animals vs. Lord Dargis" showdown begins. At the end of the fight, the villain is knocked down by Jon with a punch and then handed over to the police. Now Prince and his subjects can live in peace again. Garfield settles back in the USA after a boisterous pool party with Jon, Liz and Odie.

Reviews

"Only marginally related to the comic template, the entertaining film knows how to win over itself thanks to the clever adaptation of Mark Twain's novel" Prince and Beggar Boy "and the lustful exaggeration of the scheming British landed nobility."

... Lousy CGI effects and helpless grimacing actors make the hopeless debacle, in which even kids are allowed to get their claws out, perfect. Because even if Garfield is allowed to swing his hairy bum to the Black-Eyed Peas in line with the target group : his jokes are as rancid as an expired can of cat food. Conclusion: what was Helge Schneider singing ? "Cat loo, cat loo, yes, that makes the cat happy"? U.S. as well. When the film roll disappears in it! "
