The municipality Gračanica ( Serbian Општина Грачаница Opština Gračanica , Albanian Komuna e Graçanicës ) is a municipality in Kosovo . It is located in the Pristina district . The administrative seat is the small town of Gračanica .
history
The Gračanica municipality was created in 2010 through the Kosovar local elections that took place at the end of 2009. It is one of seven newly introduced parishes at that time and was formed from areas of the parishes of Pristina , Lipjan and Fushë Kosova .
geography
The Gračanica municipality is located in the central Kosovo landscape, the blackbird field . In the north it borders on the municipalities of Pristina and Fushë Kosova and in the south on the municipality of Lipjan . There are a total of 16 villages in the municipality. The area is 131 km². Together with the municipalities of Pristina, Podujeva , Drenas , Lipjan, Obiliq , Novo Brdo and Fushë Kosova, the municipality forms the Pristina district .
population
The 2011 census showed a population of 10,675 in the municipality of Gračanica, 7,209 of whom identified themselves as Serbs , 2,474 as Albanians , 852 as Roma , Ashkali and Balkan Egyptians , 22 as Gorans , 15 as Turks and 15 as Bosniaks . Forty-five belong to other races and 43 people did not have an answer regarding their ethnic origin.
7,237 declared themselves as Orthodox , 3,190 as Muslims, 42 as Catholics and 13 as non-denominational.
The Central Electoral Commission gave the total number of all registered voters in the Gračanica municipality - this also includes people living abroad - as 19,216 in November 2013.
