geography

The village of Hausen is about five kilometers southwest of Lichtenfels am Main at 422 kilometers below Banz Monastery . The townscape is characterized by the factories of Rösler Oberflächentechnik GmbH and the weirs of a run-of-river power station owned by SÜC .

history

The first mention of Hausens to 800 to 814 in a regest around 1160 is questionable. It is certain to be mentioned around 1448 in a fief book of the Banz monastery.

In 1801 the place consisted of a four-speed grinding mill belonging to the Banz monastery, which was driven by two water wheels. In addition to a Söldengut there was a transport cargo, a yard to which the ferry rights were bound, with fish and leg rights, which was built on with a house and barn. The Zent belonged to the bishopric of Bamberg , the village, feudal and bailiwick rule to the Banz monastery where the residents were parish.

In 1862, Hausen, which belonged to the rural community of Weingarten , was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Staffelstein .

In 1871 Hausen had 56 inhabitants and 17 buildings. The Catholic Church was in Banz Monastery one kilometer away, the school in Unnersdorf, two kilometers away . In 1900 44 people lived in five residential buildings in the hamlet. The responsible Protestant parish was located in Herreth, 5.7 kilometers away . In 1925 Hausen had 34 residents and four residential buildings. The Protestant parish was located in Lichtenfels, 5.0 kilometers away.

In 1950, 118 people lived in nine residential buildings in Hausen. The Protestant citizens belonged to the parish of the Staffelstein parish. In 1970 the place had 56 inhabitants and in 1987 42 inhabitants and 11 residential buildings.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved and the community of Weingarten was incorporated into the Lichtenfels district. At the same time, Hausen was spun off from the community of Weingarten and merged with the neighboring communities of Altenbanz , Stadel , Nedensdorf and Unnersdorf to form the new community of Banz , which was dissolved on January 1, 1978 and incorporated into the town of Staffelstein. Since then, Hausen has been a district of Staffelstein.

economy

Former mill of the Banz monastery

In 1802 , Joseph Felix Silbermann , who came from Kulmbach , acquired the mill on the Main and began producing porcelain there . As a result of economic problems, the production facility was taken over in 1938 by the porcelain company Alboth & Kaiser , founded in 1872 , which opened a new factory in Staffelstein in 1956 and gave up the branch in Hausen. In 1958, the Tettau porcelain company Rösler acquired the land and buildings of the Alboth & Kaiser porcelain factory. Roland Rösler built up the grinding wheel production line there . The development of vibratory finishing technology began in 1974. Today, Hausen is the location of grinding wheel production and the headquarters of the Rösler Group with 1550 employees worldwide.

The hydropower plant went into operation in September 1934. Four Francis turbines generate 700 kilowatts of electricity per second with a discharge of 31 cubic meters of water. As a special feature, the weir had the world's first folding boat hoist until 1956 , so that folding boat drivers on the Main did not have to move their boats at the weir. The technically complex of qualified personnel pendulum design was compared to the simpler boat lanes or Loren tracks not prevail and has since built only rarely, as in Maria Steinbach an der Iller. The elevator in Hausen was installed roughly in the middle of the weir, the abutments are still there today.
