Mostová (until 1948 Slovak "Mostová Kert", Hungarian Hidaskürt ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,587 (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Galanta , part of kraj Trnavský belongs.

geography

The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands between two arms of the Dudváh called Dolný Dudváh and Salibský Dudváh . The municipality is a deforested plain with floodplain and black soils. The center of the village is at an altitude of 118  m nm and is eight kilometers from Galanta .

history

Mostová was first mentioned in writing in 1245 as Curty . At first the village belonged to the estate of the Bratislava Castle , after the brief possession by the oligarch Matthäus Csák in the early 14th century it was divided between several nobles. Due to a number of disputes, the village was divided several times , for example to Kiskürt and Nagykürt , before the Schintau estate as a whole was acquired in the 16th century and that of Tallós in the 19th century . In the 16th and 17th centuries, the place was affected several times, for example by the attacking Turks in 1530, 1555 and 1599.

In 1715 there are 36 taxpayers listed, in 1720 a mill is mentioned. In 1828 there were 156 houses and 1,139 inhabitants.

Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.

According to the 2011 census, Mostová had 1595 inhabitants, including 1269 Magyars, 283 Slovaks, nine Roma and three Czechs. 31 residents gave no answer. 1384 residents belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, 53 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Reformed Church, two residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Jehovah's Witnesses, to the Evangelical-Methodist Church, to the Czechoslovak-Hussite Church. 87 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 57 inhabitants has not been determined.
