Horst Felix Raphael von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (born July 12, 1855 in Gallnau , † November 3, 1923 in Berlin-Wannsee ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

His parents were Camillo Heinrich Rudolf von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (* February 16, 1817 - † November 4, 1867) and his wife Laura Karoline Adelgunde Albertine Julie Auguste Freiin von Rosenberg (* May 17, 1821 - May 24, 1889). His father was a prime lieutenant in the East Prussian Cuirassier Regiment No. 3a. D. and landscape councilor in Leibitsch .

Military career

Rosenberg-Gruszczynski was brought up in the family home. After the death of his father, he graduated from the Culm cadet institute on May 4, 1868 and was promoted to sergeant on August 14, 1870 . On May 1, 1871, he moved to the Hauptkadettenanstalt in Berlin . From there he was transferred to the 2nd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 47 of the Prussian Army in Strasbourg on April 23, 1874 . As such, Rosenberg-Gruszczynski was adjutant and court officer of the 2nd Battalion in Neu-Breisach from January 10, 1876, and in the same function from October 1, 1879 in the 2nd Battalion of Landwehr Regiment No. 131 in Altkirch . From there he was transferred to the newly formed Infantry Regiment No. 128 in Danzig on March 22, 1881 with effect from April 1, 1881 . For further training, he was assigned to the War Academy in Berlin from October 1, 1882 to July 21, 1885 and was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on February 12, 1884. Rosenberg-Gruszczynski was given a position à la suite on March 22, with effect from March 1 , 1884 . April 1887 transferred to Frankfurt (Oder) as adjutant of the 9th Infantry Brigade .

Left in his position, he was promoted to captain à la suite of his new regiment, 7th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 96 , to which he was transferred at the same time on March 22, 1889 . Appointed chief of the 11th Company stationed in Rudolfstadt , he was assigned to his regiment on October 15, 1889. As such, he became adjutant of the 34th Division in Metz on September 12, 1894 . Retaining his position, he was transferred to the King's Infantry Regiment No. 145 on January 27, 1896 and promoted to Major . Since July 1, 1897, after he changed to his position in the regiment on June 17, he received his duties as a staff officer . Appointed commander of the battalion of the fusiliers of the Leib Grenadier Regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm III." (1st Brandenburg) No. 8 , he returned to Frankfurt (Oder) on July 20, 1897.

Imperial parade to Altona

On June 30, 1900, Rosenberg-Gruszczynski received command of the Lauenburg Jäger Battalion No. 9 in Ratzeburg and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 22, 1902 . As such, the battalion led the imperial maneuver of 1904 and represented it in the subsequent criticism of the emperor . While being promoted to colonel , he was appointed commander of the infantry regiment "Herwarth von Bittenfeld" (1st Westphalian) No. 13 in Münster on April 22, 1905 . He gave up this regiment on February 19, 1909, was initially entrusted with the command of the 34th Infantry Brigade (Großherzoglich Mecklenburgische) in Schwerin and, with his promotion to Major General on June 2, 1909, was appointed commander of this brigade . Rosenberg-Gruszczynski was put up for disposition on April 22, 1912, and was given the character of Lieutenant General .

Rosenberg-Gruszczynski was reactivated during the First World War and was in command of the 44th Landwehr Infantry Brigade from January 1, 1915 to November 30, 1917. Subordinated to the 8th Replacement Division , he took part in the fighting in the Priesterwald on the western front . His mobilization provision was canceled on December 1, 1917.

Rosenberg-Gruszczynski married Adolfine Ida Angelika, née von Gerlach (born June 1, 1862) on October 6, 1887. Several children emerged from the marriage:

  • Maria Laura Adolfine (born January 14, 1889 in Frankfurt a. O.)
  • Elisabeth Editha Margarete (born March 20, 1890 in Rudolfstadt)
  • Friedrich Kamillo Anton August (born January 30, 1893 in Rudolfstadt) and fell during the First World War as a lieutenant on September 27, 1915 near Ripont
  • Franz Heinrich (born January 29, 1896 in Metz) was deported as a colonel from Berlin to Russia in 1945 and has been missing since then
