The 2003/04 LHJMQ season was the 35th season of the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . The regular season with 70 games for each of the 16 teams began on September 11, 2003 and ended on March 14, 2004. The playoffs started on March 19, 2004 and ended with the sixth Coupe-du-Président win of the Gatineau Olympiques on March 9 , 2004 May 2004, who prevailed against the Moncton Wildcats in the LHJMQ final . Gatineau defended the previous year's title win, which they had won under their old name Hull Olympiques .
Changes
Teams
- The Hull Olympiques were renamed Gatineau Olympiques .
- The Montréal Rocket from Montreal , Québec were relocated to Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island and took part in gaming operations under the name PEI Rocket .
- The Sherbrooke Castors from Sherbrooke , Québec were relocated to Lewiston , Maine and took part in gaming operations under the name Lewiston MAINEiacs .
Divisions
With the two franchise relocations from the province of Québec to the east, the divisions were reorganized. Instead of the previous four divisions, each with four teams divided into two conferences, the division was now divided into three divisions with the names Ouest , Est and Atlantique . The Ouest division played with six teams, the other two with five each.

Playoffs
The 13 teams with the highest points in the league qualified for the playoffs, with only three teams not being represented at the finals. The three division winners Cape Breton Screaming Eagles , Rimouski Océanic and Gatineau Olympiques received a bye for the round of 16 and only entered the playoffs for the quarter-finals series.
