The state electoral district of Kiel-Nord (constituency 12) is one of three state electoral districts in the state capital of Kiel in the election for the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . It encompasses the north-western part of the city of Kiel as far as the Eckernförder Straße - Lehmberg - Brunswiker Straße line. The constituency is considered a stronghold of the SPD .
Beginning at the city limits to the municipality of Kronshagen on the middle of Eckernförder Straße and Gutenbergstraße, the street Lehmberg to Holtenauer Straße, in a south-easterly direction on the middle of the street of Holtenauer Straße to Dreiecksplatz, from there to the east on the middle of the street of Brunswiker Straße Schlossgarten and the street Prinzengarten, there in the middle of the street Prinzengarten to the Düsternbrooker Weg, from there to the north on the street middle of the Düsternbrooker Weg to the keel line, on the way center along the kiellinie to the sports boat harbor Seeburg, there to the bank of the harbor, along the waterline south through the Hörn, then along the water line north to the city limits to the municipality of Mönkeberg, from there across the fjord to the west bank to the end of the north pier, along the locks over the Kiel Canal, along the water line north on the bank of the port to the city limits to the municipality of Strande, following the city limits to Starting point at the Kronshagen municipality border.
In addition to the previous Prime Minister, Torsten Albig (SPD), who was elected in the constituency, but who did not accept his state parliament mandate after the loss of power, the Greens' direct candidate, the former Finance Minister Monika Heinold, and the FDP, the former Social Minister Heiner Garg, were on their party's state lists elected to the state parliament. While Heinold resigned her mandate on June 28, 2017 after being reappointed to the finance department, Heiner Garg resigned his state parliament mandate on December 14, 2017 after returning to the Ministry of Social Affairs after five years in the opposition.
