The men's pole vault at the 1954 European Athletics Championships was held on August 26 and 28, 1954 in the Neufeld stadium in Bern .
European champion was Eeles Landström from Finland . The silver medal went to the Swedish defending champion and European record holder Ragnar Lundberg . Third place went to the Briton Geoff Elliott and the Finn Jukka Piironen.

Record improvement
Both European champion Eeles Landström and vice-European champion Ragnar Lundberg improved the EM record in the final by ten centimeters to 4.40 meters.
qualification

The 24 participants took part in a joint qualifying round. The qualification level for the direct entry into the final was probably set a little low at 4.05 m. Twenty jumpers qualified for the final (highlighted in light blue), only four athletes were eliminated.
