List of Maine members of the US House of Representatives
This list shows all the politicians who for since 1820 the state of Maine to the United States House of Representatives have listened. Before the state split off from Massachusetts as a result of the Missouri Compromise , the District of Maine was represented in Congress by the appropriate representatives from Massachusetts ; most recently the Maine district had seven seats. After a short transition period with one MP, the state of Maine had seven members in the House of Representatives as early as 1821. An eighth constituency existed for a short time between 1833 and 1843. As a result, the number of MPs fell continuously, until 1963 the third district ceased to exist; since then, the Maine delegation has only been two. Only once, in 1883, were the seats awarded in a state-wide election (“at large”).
