List of number one hits in France

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of the number one hits in France is based on various surveys of the most popular and best-selling singles and albums in France.

history

Before 1984 there were various sources that published hit lists in France. It was not until November 3, 1984 that the French Association of the Record Industry ( Syndicat National de l'édition Phonographique , SNEP) published official single charts for the first time, which were determined by the opinion research institute IFOP ( Institut français d'opinion publique ). The top 50 singles were soon followed by the top album charts. Until September 3, 1993, there were regular chart broadcasts on French television on Canal + and on radio on Europe 1 .

After that, the charts continued to be published in specialist magazines ( Platine , Musique Info Hebdo ), but various chart broadcasts on radio and television were mostly short-lived. With the advent of the Internet, the charts were also made available on the IFOP and SNEP pages. Today the single charts have 100 places, the album charts 200 places.
