The list of cities in the Republic of Moldova provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities of the Southeast European Republic of Moldova .

By far the largest agglomeration in Moldova is Chișinău with a population of 731,941 (as of January 1, 2005). This means that 20 percent of the country's population is concentrated in the capital region.

The table shows the cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants, the results of the census of January 15, 1959, January 15, 1970, January 17, 1979, January 12, 1989 and May 10, 2004 as well as the higher-level administrative unit ( Rajon ), to which the city belongs. Gagauzia forms an autonomous republic, the cities of Chișinău, Bălți , Bender and Tiraspol are independent and do not belong to a Rajon. The population figures refer to the respective urban settlement - the geographical urban area - not to the city or municipality in the political sense.
