List of works of art in St. Peter's Basilica

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Floor plan of St. Peter's Basilica

The following list lists works of art and furnishings that are in St. Peter's Basilica . The numbering corresponds to that of the floor plan and thus shows the location of the artifact. Since altarpieces in the basilica were largely replaced by mosaic copies or new creations in mosaic, the person who created either the draft or the model for the mosaic is named for such a work; otherwise the name refers to the performing artist. The year numbers indicate the time span of the creation of the work of art. If only one year is mentioned, this refers to the year of completion.
