Lutz Lehmann (cyclist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lutz Lehmann (born November 18, 1963 in Berlin-Oberschöneweide ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Life

Lutz Lehmann grew up in East Berlin and started cycling in the GDR in the BSG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg . Because of his "western relationship", however, his sporting options were so limited that he submitted an application to leave the country and wrote to Franz Josef Strauss . On charges of betrayal, he was arrested, ransomed in 1985, and in 1987 he moved to West Berlin ( Charlottenburg ), where he joined the RC Charlottenburg association . From 1991 he drove for the club RSG Frankfurt am Main , later switched to Opel Schüler Berlin , RRV Hameln and ultimately to SC DHfK Leipzig . With the RSG Frankfurt he became German champion in the team time trial in 1992 .

Lehmann mainly competed in bike races in Germany, but also made detours to Slovakia ( Tour of Slovakia 1991), Sweden ( Postgirot Open 1992), Switzerland ( GP Tell 1992) and to his first peace ride in 1990 . He also had the greatest success of his cycling career at the International Peace Ride in 1995 : three stages in the leader's yellow jersey . However, on the fourth stage he got a puncture which cost him the lead. In the Berlin Tour he was able to win a total of nine stages at his starts. In 1999, the last year of his career, Rund um Berlin won the race that he wanted to win as a teenager.

In 2011 Lehmann also drove for the "Team Wunderlich" races for everyone .
