Matthias Ostrzolek (born June 5, 1990 in Bochum ) is a German - Polish soccer player . He stands at Hannover 96 under contract and can be used both on the position of left-back as in the middle are used.
Family, childhood and youth
Ostrzolek, whose parents come from the Polish part of Silesia , has both German and Polish citizenship . In addition to German, he also speaks Polish and every year he visits his relatives in Poland. Ostrzolek grew up in the Langendreer district of Bochum and - after moving at the age of eight - in the Lütgendortmund district of Dortmund opposite .

At the age of six, Ostrzolek joined the WSV Bochum . In 1997 he joined the VfL Bochum youth team, went through all the other youth departments and was transferred to the second team for the 2009/10 season. During the 2010/11 season he was allowed to train with the professionals and was substituted on in the game against VfL Osnabrück . In the subsequent game against MSV Duisburg , he played his first full game in the 2nd Bundesliga . During the winter break he signed a professional contract until 2013.
On January 29, 2012, FC Augsburg signed Ostrzolek. He signed a contract with the Swabians until June 30, 2015. Both clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer. On February 12, 2012 (21st matchday) he made his debut in a 0-0 draw against 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga when he came on for Marcel de Jong in the 8th minute of the game .
For the 2014/15 season , Ostrzolek moved to Hamburger SV . He signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2017. He made his debut on August 30, 2014 (2nd matchday), when he was substituted on for Marcell Jansen in the 71st minute of the 3-0 defeat against SC Paderborn 07 . Ostrzolek quickly won a regular place and in his first season with Hamburger SV occupied 16th place in the table, which was synonymous with qualifying for participation in the relegation; there the HSV prevailed against the Karlsruher SC (1: 1/2: 1 n. V.). At the end of the first half of the following season, Ostrzolek finished 10th in the table with Hamburger SV.
On the 13th matchday of the 2016/17 season , Ostrzolek scored his first Bundesliga goal in the away win against SV Darmstadt 98 when he scored the 2-0 final score in the 90th minute.
For the 2017/18 season , Ostrzolek left HSV after his contract expired and joined the newly promoted Hannover 96 , with whom he received a three-year contract until June 30, 2020.
National team
In April 2007 he was appointed to the squad of the Polish U-17 national team for the first time , where he played a full 90 minutes in the game against Latvia. After almost four years without a nomination for a Polish youth national team, he was invited to the squad of the German U21 national team for the test matches against the Netherlands and Italy for the first time in March 2011 . Shervin Radjabali-Fardi came on in the 22nd minute on his debut in the game against the Dutch U21s . Ostrzolek was unable to assert himself in the German U21 national team and so he only made three appearances in qualifying for the U21 European Football Championship in Israel in 2013, in the test match on March 24, 2013 in the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv- Jaffa against the hosts, Matthias Ostrzolek completed his last of eight international matches. At the European Championship finals in Israel, he was not part of the squad.

Ostrzolek has been involved in Show Racism the Red Card - Germany eV since 2013. In April he took part in a workshop organized by the educational initiative and reported to the students about his own experiences with racism and discrimination .
